Nine more covid deaths in Devon hospitals

Pressure on NHS grows

Another nine deaths related to the Coronavirus pandemic have been recorded in hospitals across Devon, new data has shown.

Five of the fatalities happened at Plymouth's Derriford Hospital, while two were confirmed at Torbay Hospital along with another two at North Devon District Hospital, between Boxing Day and Monday 3 January.

NHS England figures show that there have been 1,017 covid-related deaths across Devon's hospitals. Despite not having deaths in the latest figures, the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital has recorded the most in the county, where 358 people have died with the disease.

Derriford has the second most with 332 while Torbay has 184 and North Devon 136. A further six cLaLovid deaths have been recorded at Mount Gould Hospital, and one has been confirmed at Livewell Tavistock.
