£9,000 raised

Nine local good causes have been successful in obtaining a small grant award from the Torbay Lottery Small Grants Fund for 2021/2022.

This year, the fund raised £9,000 through ticket sales from the Torbay Lottery which will be used to help organisations provide valued support and services to communities.

The lucky organisations to benefit are:

•    Children’s Week (Torbay) (£1,000)
•    Friends of the Vigilance (£500)
•    South Devon School of Gymnastics (£1,100)
•    Life Education Wessex (£1,000)
•    Torquay Rowing Club (£1,200)
•    Jazz Hands CIC (£1,100)
•    Orchard Forest School CIC (£1,300)
•    PPT Arts & Events CIC (£1,000)
•    Brixham Future Community Interest Group (£800)

Councillor Christine Carter, Cabinet Member for Corporate and Community Services, said: “The Torbay Lottery continues to be a great initiative and we are so pleased to be able to support our local good causes and community groups in this way.

“We are always looking for new local groups to join the lottery and benefit from monthly income generated through ticket sales as well as through the Small Grants Fund which is opened at the start of each year for local groups to bid for up to £2,000 towards the cost of specific items.

The Torbay Lottery is a council initiative, empowering local groups to generate vital funds in a fun and effective way, while enabling players to support the causes they care about the most.

In total, 138 causes have now signed up and the Torbay Lottery has raised nearly £165,000.

There are currently 608 players signed up to it and 1130 tickets in play.

Draws take place every Saturday night. To be in with a chance to scoop up to £25,000, go to www.torbaylottery.co.uk and sign up today. Several ticket holders have won £2,000.
