Fastest time, despite hot conditions

More then 250 runners have completed City Run's Exeter 10k on the Quay.

The first female, Rebecca Ezra-Ham, set a new course record of 36:36.

Ollie Garrod of Belgrave Harriers was the first across the line overall, after leading from the start. He finished in 32:02, just four seconds off the course record.

The hot weather made it hard work for the runners. However there was lots of support around the two lap course which offered plenty of opportunities for friends and family to encourage the athletes from the sidelines.

The annual event and is organised by City Runs, which holds a number of runs in the Exeter area, including a summer 5k series and winter 5-mile series.

The events are open to everyone, regardless of ability or age and as a result, the competitors at Wednesday’s race ranged from club runners aiming for an impressive personal best to those taking part in their first 10k and simply aiming to finish.

At the end of the race, all finishers were rewarded for their efforts with a medal and refreshments.  Those who finished on the overall podium in the male or female categories received additional medals.
