Conley’s glass slipper fits the Lyric

Get ready for belly laughs, the moonwalk and a reminder of Plymouth Argyle’s defeat to Exeter City as all-round entertainer and king of panto Brain Conley returns to the Lyric after 15 years to co-write and star in Plymouth’s offering.
It’s the classic story. Cinderella dreams of attending the ball and meeting Prince Charming, but is hindered by her horrible ugly sisters, meaning she must turn to her fairy godmother for help.
Conley is witty, cheeky and an all-round mischief-maker as Buttons. I’m not sure if he was in silly mood during this particular performance as he makes cast members crack up frequently. He owns the stage, laughing as his own jokes, with a constant smile on his face. He has you in the palm of his hands. Conley has a lovely singing voice, with a Cinderalla repertorie including The Monkees’ I'm a Believer and Old McDonald.
Plymouth’s Got Talent has to be a one of the highlights, in which an unsuspecting audience member has the chance to show off their vocal cords - that’s if they know the words. Conley works with what he’s got and always manages to wring out the humour.
A phenomenal and talented cast that supports Conley, should all get more chances to shine in this family-friendly treat. The hilarious and engaging script means your eyes won’t wander. You’ll be hooked till the curtain goes down. It’s a pantomime with traditional ingredients and more than a few surprises sprinkled along the way.
