Exeter University has issued a statement in response to the English Defence League, after learning that it's chosen to stage a national demonstration in the city next month, partly because of the university's Islamic studies and Muslim research centre.
The EDL has also criticised the university for accepting donations from people or organisations in the Middle East.
The University says the Arab and Islamic world is a subject of academic study in the same way as physics, history or French - and doesn't indicate that the university is sympathetic to any particular cause.
And it says it receives donations from the Middle East as well as the UK, the US and Europe to help fund research and teaching - all of which are ethically checked before acceptance.
