Torquay United vs Chippenham Town

Torquay United 3 Chippenham Town 0

A fabulous first half-hour saw Torquay record a convincing win which moved them into second place in the National League South table.

The Gulls were 3-0 up before Chippenham had even left the starting line, and the home side controlled the game comfortably without being able to add to their tally.

The first goal came after six minutes when Lirak Hasani headed home a right wing cross from Ben Seymour, and just three minutes later the lead was doubled.

This time it was defender Ed Palmer who grabbed the goal, meeting Matt Carson’s deep corner beyond the far post and foxing visiting keeper Will Henry with a downward header that bounced past him.

Seymour hit the post with a low shot before Torquay made it 3-0 thanks to Dan Hayfield, who powered a shot past Henry in the 26th minute.

There were more chances for the home side before the break, but the game was over as a contest by the time the whistle went.

There were more chances in a largely forgettable second half, but Hayfield missed a great chance with a shot that rose over the bar and Brad Ash forced a good save from Henry.
