Radio Exe has biggest quarterly audience

Breakfast host Matt Rogers and Drivetime presenter Ashley Jeary

75,000 adults tune in

The first audience figures to be published in 18 months show more listeners tuning to Radio Exe.

Now the only commercial station broadcasting from Devon, the station is predicted to attract 75,000 listeners aged 15 or over every quarter. It's the highest figure recorded for Radio Exe by independent market research company Ipsos Mori.

Because of covid, the way research is conducted has changed and this has to be considered when making comparisons against historical data, but all the key indicators have increased since the last audience data was published covering the year to the end of March 2020.

The new figures relate to nine months before the start of the pandemic and three months up to the end of June this year.

Radio Exe's managing director Paul Nero says: "We've enjoyed a period of change and growth. As other commercial stations have retreated to London bases, new listeners have made the switch to Radio Exe.

"We're thrilled with the response Matt Rogers is getting to his new breakfast show on Radio Exe. Drivetime presenter Ashley Jeary's audience has grown, and we have a new daytime show with Neil Walker, who's transformed the middle part of the weekday. Add new talent in the form of Jamie Taylor, who joined us as an apprentice and now is an essential part of the schedule, and it's turning into a powerful mix.

"We have exciting plans for next year too, including the launch, together with our colleagues at community stations Phonic and Riviera FM, of a new suite of digital radio services in the Exeter area and an extension of the Radio Exe brand too."
