Many local children 'living in poverty'

Sixteen per cent of children in Exeter live below the UK poverty line, according to a report.

Poverty is defined as having an income of less than 60 per cent of the UK average

The figures by the End Child Poverty campaign show major inequalities within the city, with areas including Priory and Mincinglake having more than 20 per cent of families in that category,  while the more affluent St Leonards has just six per cent.

In the East Devon district the rate is 10 per cent, in mid Devon it's 12 per cent and in Teignbridge, 13 per cent.
