Man airlifted to hospital after Brixham stabbing

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder

A man is in a critical condition after being stabbed in Brixham yesterday evening [14 June].

Emergency services, including armed officers, were called to the Quay at around 7pm where the man, in his 40s, sustained a life-threatening knife wound following an altercation outside the Sprat and Mackerel pub.

He was then airlifted to Derriford Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

A 48-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman from the town have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remain in police custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Ian Reid, said: “Earlier this morning, officers in Torquay arrested two people in connection to this matter and they remain in police custody to be questioned in due course. A vehicle has also been seized by officers.

“At this time, this is being treated as an isolated incident where all parties are believed to be known to each other. We are not looking for anyone else in connection with this matter.

“I’d encourage anyone with relevant information and anyone who was near The Quay in Brixham on Friday evening, to get in touch with police.
