"Look what I got at the charity shop (almost)"

Convertible Jag for Devon Air Ambulance

Jigsaws, yes. CDs certainly. Previously loved clothes, absolutely.

But a convertible sports car? It's not what you normally pick up at a Devon Air Ambulance Trust shop.

And if truth be told, the 1999 Jaguar XK8 convertible isn't going to be on the shelf at one of the charity's many High Street stores across the county, or even parked outside.

It's going into auction next month, with the owner generously giving the proceeds to the air ambulance.

So if you've dreamed of owning a Jag and doing some good at the same time, where better to go than the Charterhouse classic car auction at Sherborne in Dorset on Thursday 9 March.

Richard Bromell from the auctioneers said: “It is such as kind gesture by the owner to support the Devon Air Ambulance Trust. And we are delighted to auction this car and will pull out every trick in the auction book to make sure it gets the best possible price.”

The car is sapphire blue with a grey leather interior it has covered an average of just over 4,600 miles annually. It has an electric hood, wind deflector, has recently had new tyres and brakes.

Its reserve price is £5,000.

You can see the vehicle and others at the vintage car auction at Haynes International Motor Museum on Wednesday 8 March.

Alternatively, you can see the car and bid live online and follow the auction via www.charterhouse-auction.com
