Two goals in two matches for academy graduate

With Exeter City second in the table after just two games, coach Matt Taylor's side look comfortable in League One following their promotion.

Midfielder Harry Kite's stunning volley against Port Vale at the first home match is focusing attention on the 22-year-old academy graduate.

Kite subsequently scored in the Carabao Cup 7-0 demolition of Cheltenham Town on Tuesday.

By half-time, City were already five goals up. He's relaxed about the pressure of first-team life. He explained: “We were fairly relaxed in the dressing room...we were wanting to learn from the Bristol Rovers game last season in order to keep our heads, and to maintain the five-goal lead”.

Exeter will now travel to League Two's Gillingham in the second round. 

In the meantime, it's back to League One action this weekend, with a trip to Cambridge.

Kite said: “I aim to be a first team midfielder for the rest of the season...Cambridge United are a strong side to play against."

He continued: "We more than matched them last season. They are a very physical side, but we all have lots of motivation for the game...During the first game of the season, the speed and tempo was much quicker than in League Two.

 “It’s a privilege to play with these lads and carry on the journey I and many of the others started from such a young age.”
