Fire crews from across Devon were sent to a wild fire at Haldon Forest this morning (Wednesday 3rd July)
They received a call to say some gorse was on fire and it was spreading.
After the first engine arrived they requested another 2 fire engines which came from Danes Castle and Exmouth who were on the way to standby at Danes Castle. Other special appliances and officers were also sent to the job.
Crews spent a period of time at the incident trying to get a fire break and surround the fire. Beaters and 1 hose was used to put the fire out.
The area will be patrolled by Haldon Forest staff until Danes Castle re-attend at 7pm tonight to check the site.
