Flybe bust - again

Airline crashes for second time

Regional airline Flybe has gone into administration, three years after it went bust for the first time.

The company isn't quite the same as the former Exeter-based operator which went out of business at the beginning of 2020, with hundreds of people losing their jobs. A new company bought some of the assets, including the name, and based itself in Birmingham, offering fewer routes, although it planned to operate more than 500 flights a week, mainly between UK airports.

Although the new Flybe only stated flying last April, it says it has ceased trading and told any passengers expecting to travel with it not to go to the airport.

It is not in a position to help passengers arrange alternative flights.
