The tour operator says the aircraft had a technical problem
A flight from Exeter to see Father Christmas in Lapland on Wednesday has been cancelled at short notice.
The "once in a lifetime experience" was being put on by Newmarket Holidays. It costs in the region of £500 per person and included a visit to Father Christmas.
Some children were said to be 'inconsolable' after the company said they couldn't go on another day either. A spokesperson for the company said:
"It is with huge regret that we have had to cancel today’s (Wednesday 19th) flight to Lapland from Exeter Airport.
The aircraft operating this flight developed technical problems on the ground at Exeter Airport, and, despite every effort to rectify the issue, we have sadly been forced to cancel the departure. We explored the possibility of operating the flight tomorrow but this proved not to be possible.
We would like to apologise profusely for the obvious disappointment this situation will cause our passengers and assure them that we did everything in our power to remedy the situation.
A full refund of monies paid for this trip will be reimbursed forthwith. As a gesture of goodwill we are offering all affected customers a 25% discount off the price they paid this year for our 2019 flight from Exeter, which departs on Sunday 22nd December 2019.
We would like to assure everyone travelling on Lapland departures over the coming days that their trip will operate as usual."
