A fourteen foot snake caused alarm when it escaped from a flat in Exeter - causing other residents of the building to evacuate to a nearby hotel.
The rock python - which is known as a dangerous species - was thought to have slithered behind the bathroom wall of the flat in Elsie Place in the Hill Barton area yesterday.
Its owner reported its disappearance and the police and fire crews were called out to try and find it.
However the owner found the missing snake himself later yesterday night.
