Three extra-time goals for Leeds United
Plymouth Argyle have been knocked out of the fourth round of the FA Cup after losing four, one against Leeds United at Home Park in the replay. It took three extra-time goals for Leeds to overcome Argyle.
Leeds dominated possession throughout the match; the opening goal didn’t come until the second half when the Yorkshire side broke the deadlock. However, Plymouth responded just over 10 minutes later and scored an equaliser courtesy of Plymouth defender Brendan Galloway, who headed it in from a corner.
Neither side capitalised on their late opportunities, and Leeds hit the post in the last minute of stoppage time. But after 90 minutes, the score was one-all; extra time awaited both sides.
Within the first 10 minutes of extra time, Leeds United scored again and took the lead. The fifth round was slipping away from Argyle, and the players looked fatigued. The away side scored twice in the second half of extra time, wrapping up the tie and booking themselves a trip against Chelsea or Aston Villa in the last 16.
The Leeds substitutes changed the match completely- the travelling side scored three goals in 20 minutes of extra time.
The full-time score was Plymouth Argyle one, Leeds United four.
