New storage tanks, pipes and sewers pledged
South West Water has announced major investments in Dawlish to improve water quality and reduce the use of storm overflows in the area.
There will be new storage tanks, new drains and pipe repairs to help reduce the number of times sewage is allowed to pour into the sea.
Work is planned to start early next year and be completed in March 2026.
Mark Wright of engineering firm Amplify said: "This project is an essential investment for Dawlish, ensuring our infrastructure can keep up with the needs of the local area as it grows and adapts to the changing climate.
“By conducting these tests, we can design a robust, future-proof solution that protects the town, and we look forward to sharing our plans with local residents.”
