High Street store snapped up by The Range owner

Devon is getting two of its Wilkos back.

The high street discount store went into administration this summer, but some of its assets have been acquired by the company run by Plymouth entrepreneur Chris Dawson.

CDS Superstores, which owns his flagship brand The Range, is now the owner of Wilko too.

The Devon stores are two of just five that will be trading again before Christmas. The brand previously had more than 400 shops.

The new company will give priority for jobs to former Wilko staff.

CDS Superstores' chief executive Alex Simpkin said: "The public reaction to the loss of Wilko stores was undeniable. That's why we've taken the decision to reintroduce Wilko back to many of the High Streets and communities that it used to so proudly serve."
