Wet but wonderful: Exeter runs its half marathon

Runners brave Sunday weather (but were dry on Saturday)

Sunday's stormy weather didn't stop runners making the most of the beauty of Exeter's half marathon - perhaps a little jealous that the serious participants the day before enjoyed a dry route.

Organised by Exeter City Community Trust, and with Radio Exe as broadcast media partner, the event on both days turned out to be wet but wonderful.

Jamie Vittles, chief executive of Exeter City Community Trust, which is the partner charity of Exeter City Football Club, said the event had been a great success.

He added: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part over the weekend, it was fantastic to see so many people enjoying their running. Thanks also to all the volunteers who help by stewarding the races, or staffing the water stations, and of course, to our headline sponsors Tozers Solicitors LLP, and event partners Exeter Live Better, Stagecoach, whose support means that we can stage these events in our city and further afield.

The Radio Exe Crew decided they were best deployed playing music

“We’d also like to thank our charity partners, Alright Mate?, Children’s Hospice South West, Exeter Leukaemia Fund, and Julian House for their support across the weekend and the work that they do all year round for our community”
