The Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital is changing the rules for visitors, following a rise in covid infections and a death earlier in the week.
Tightening of restrictions begin on Thursday evening, although they come with some exceptions; for example, for people visiting patients with dementia or learning disabilities, and parents accompanying children.
Patients receiving end-of-life care can receive more than one visitor from the same household or support bubble within a 24-hour period.

For women is being induced, partners can join the between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. For mums-to-be being cared for in a birth centre, labour ward or in theatre, one birth partner can attend. This is usually when the woman is in labour, having a caesarean or in the immediate postnatal period.
One partner or designated individual may make an appointment with ward staff to visit the postnatal ward once per day for a set time between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. One partner can attend the dating scan (at approximately 12 weeks) and the anomaly scan (at 20 weeks)
