One has been extended

A leading Devon theatre is celebrating a successful 2024, with two co-productions thrilling London audiences this Christmas.

Both The Devil Wears Prada and Tom Fletcher’s The Creakers, which premiered at Plymouth’s Theatre Royal (TRP) earlier this year, are enjoying successful runs in the West End. Many performances of both shows are sold out.

The Devil Wears Prada, starring Vanessa Williams as Miranda Priestly, opened at TRP in July before transferring to London's Dominion Theatre in October.

The stage adaptation of the popular book and film, featuring music by Elton John, has been extended until October 2025.

McFly frontman Tom Fletcher also chose TRP for the world premiere of his debut stage show, The Creakers. It ran during October half term in Plymouth before moving to London’s Southbank Centre, where it plays until January 5, 2025.

All props, scenery, and costumes for Creakers were created in-house at a nearby production centre.

Theatre Royal's boss James Mackenzie-Blackman, said "These successes demonstrate our commitment to producing large-scale, world-class theatre. We are proud of our achievements in 2024 and are exploring exciting projects for the future."
