Trains to London cancelled

Some train services from Devon to London remain suspended due to the chaos left in the aftermath of Storm Bert.

The second named storm of the season battered the region with strong winds and rain over 48 hours, resulting in power outages for hundreds of homes and stranded drivers.

GWR services connecting London Paddington to Penzance via Exeter St Davids and Plymouth are not operating smoothly, and routes from Exeter to Okehampton and Barnstaple are also being impacted.

The A381 road between Totnes and Newton Abbot is closed between Ipplepen and Two Mile Oak because of flooding, while over 300 homes across both counties are currently without electricity. A fallen tree has obstructed this road at Copplestone in Devon.

Residents in Clovelly were among those who spent the weekend removing floodwater from their properties.

Chudleigh and Exeter have also faced flooding, with the indoor skate park in Newton Abbot being affected as well.

Many locations are still grappling with severe flooding, and several roads remain closed.

There are also 20 flood alerts still active, and we are being advised to exercise extra caution - keep it Radio Exe updates for updates.
