The Westexe Park facility had been closed for weeks
The paddling pool in Tiverton’s Westexe Park is set to reopen in time for the school summer holidays.
The pool has remained closed so far this season as the Council struggled to find a contractor able to fulfil the necessary maintenance requirements.
But now a team has been recruited to carry out the additional workload which includes testing the pool water three times a day, seven days a week.
The new team is currently being trained by Council staff and the pool is due to re-open on Tuesday, 16th July from noon – just in time for the summer break.
Andy Busby, Group Manager for Property Assets at the Council said:
“We were disappointed the pool could not be opened earlier as we had originally intended, but the cleanliness of the facility and safety of pool users must always be our priority. We know it’s a very popular facility and we are pleased that we can now reopen the pool for our communities to enjoy.”
Cllr Luke Taylor, Cabinet Member for Environment said:
“These pools are very popular with families and having an active lifestyle is something we as a Council want to encourage so this is great news. Now let’s hope we have some good weather and Mid Devon children can enjoy the pools all summer.”
The Westexe Pool is due to be open to the public from 10:00am until 6.00pm, seven days a week.
