An investigation has been launched in Plymouth after jewellery worth more than £220,000 was stolen from a shop.

The burglary took place at WANTS Jewellers on Amarda Way on Thursday 13 February, between 5.30pm and 7pm.

A suspect gained access to the shop through a vacant property next door before stealing a large quanitity of jewellery and watches.

He then left the scene via the roof of the property next door onto Cornwall Street, before returning at around 10pm and stealing more items.

Detective Sergeant Paula Tucker said: “The investigation team is following a number of lines of enquiry and we are now releasing new images of a man we would like to identify and speak to.

“I would like to thank the public for all information provided so far and whilst we may not have been in contact with you personally, we are following up all lines of enquiry to eliminate or implicate all potential suspects.

“The images are not the best quality but are all we have at the moment. We are releasing them in the hope that it may jog someone’s memory, particularly in relation to the clothing worn by the man pictured.

“The images have been obtained over several days prior to the offence being committed.

“It has been established that a suspect gained entry to the vacant premises (previously Barista Brothers) next door and used it to access WANTS as early as 5 February.

“The suspect is known to have been in the city centre in the early hours of the evening on February 5, 6, 8, 9 and 12, around the Cornwall Street and Armada Way area.

“The suspect has also been seen in the Mutley Plain area. He is believed to be Eastern European and could have been staying locally in short term rented accommodation such as an Airbnb.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting log 50250038839.
