The incident happened near Ashburton just before midnight last Wednesday
Police are appealing for witnesses following a single vehicle collision near Ashburton which left a woman seriously injured.
Emergency services were called at 11.55pm on Wednesday 6 March after the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution V collided with a hedge on the road between Spitchwick Common and Ashburton.
The vehicle, which contained a family of three from Newton Abbot, is believed to have been travelling towards Ashburton.
The back seat passenger, a woman in her 40s, sustained a serious head injury and was airlifted to Derriford Hospital by air ambulance. She remains in hospital in a critical condition.
Two men in the vehicle, one aged 20 and the other in his 40s, suffered minor injuries and were also taken to Derriford Hospital by ambulance.
The road was closed for five-and-a-half hours while officers carried out an examination of the scene and the vehicle was recovered.
Officers from the Alliance Roads Policing Team are investigating the collision and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident.
