    They were hit by train

Rail services on the south west's mainline have been severely disrupted following the death of a person on the line near Plymouth on Thursday.

British Transport Police and South West Ambulance Service were called to the area around 2.30 p.m. following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

Paramedics declared the person dead at the scene.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesperson for GWR confirmed on Twitter that a person had been "hit by a train at Plymouth".

CrossCountry trains between Scotland and the north of England and Plymouth are affected, along with GWR services between Cornwall and London Paddington. Local services between Exeter and Plymouth are delayed too.

Tickets are being accepted on Stagecoach Buses on route X38, which runs between Exeter and Plymouth.
