The Exeter coach firm whose vehicle was involved in last month's fatal accident in Cornwall is having its operating licence revoked by the government's Traffic Commissioner. But the decision relates to an investigation carried out before the crash.
68 year old Carol Muldoon from Newton Poppleford and 61 year old Margaret Luxton from Exmouth were killed in the accident near Looe last month.. involving a vehicle operated by Carmel Coaches.
The company had already been the subject of an investigation by the Traffic Commissioner... because of concerns that drivers were not complying with the rules on reporting and recording vehicle defects.
The commissioner said today that the company 'no longer satisfies the requirements to be of good repute and professionally competent' - and its operating licence is revoked from July 31st.
The fatal accident will be investigated by police and other agencies.
