Mystery over sick Exeter cyclist

Man may have had heart attack

A cyclist who was found on the roadside at Stoke Woods, Exeter, last Friday lunchtime, 4 December, is thought to have had a heart attack, but police are asking for witnesses who may have seen what happened in the lead-up to him coming off his bike.

Part of Pennsylvania Road was closed for four hours whilst police investigated.

The 54-year-old man was seriously unwell when he was found alongside his bicycle on Pennsylvania Road, between Exeter and Stoke Canon, around 1.15pm. He was resuscitated by ambulance paramedics at the scene and was taken to hospital where he remained on Monday evening.

Anyone who may have seen a man on an orange Cannondale bicycle on the road, or who may have dashcam footage of him, is asked to contact police on 101 or via email 101@dc.police.uk quoting log number 427, of 4 December.
