MP's concern over loss of Met Office contract

The MP for Exeter is writing to the secretary of state for business over the BBC's decision to take its weather forecasting contract away from the Met Office.

The information could soon be provided by a private company based in Holland or New Zealand instead of the Exeter office.

The BBC say they have to get the best value for money - but it's also been reported that they thought the Met Office's style was too complicated for their audience.
