The Citizens Advice Bureau is reporting an increase in people needing help with rent arrears, phone and broadband bills, and council tax.
The average debt is also up - people owe a thousand pounds more than last year - on average 13 thousand pounds.
More people visit Exeter CAB with debt problems.
