Towed down Exe to Exmouth
A man who sustained a serious injury to his foot whilst on a boat on the River Exe on Sunday has been taken to shore by the town's RNLI.
The coastguard alerted the lifeboat crew at 10.20am on Sunday [30 May]. Exmouth's inshore lifeboat, with crewman Geoff Mills on his first operational rescue, quickly located the casualty.
The boat was towed to Exmouth Marina, where the gentleman was treated by an ambulance team.
Helm Harry Griffin said: “This was a multi agency operation that ensured the casualty was bought to safety and receive urgent medical aid as quickly as possible. We were pleased to assist in this rescue and I would like to congratulate Geoff Mills on this being his first RNLI rescue as a crew volunteer on the inshore lifeboat.”
