A Torquay man has been sentenced to more than six years in prison after pleading guilty to historic child sexual abuse offences.

73-year-old Leslie Retallick, from Queensway, was sentenced at Exeter Crown Court on Monday 14 October following convictions for indecent assault, three counts of indencency with a child and sexual assault.

The court heard how the offences took place between 1999 and 2008 and involved Retallick encouraging a boy to view pornography.

He then sexually abused the boy, insisting on secrecy to prevent any trouble.

The abuse continued fo rmany years and Retallick progressed to taking the boy away on trips where the exposure to pornography continued.

It eventually stopped when the victim moved away. The extent of Retallicks criminality came to light later when we was found to have downloaded child abuse material.

Investigating officer DC Jake Woodbridge said: "Leslie Retalllick is a sexual predator who for many years preyed on and abused a young boy.

“We are glad justice has finally been done and he is now serving time in prison for his crimes.

“I would like to thank the victim for supporting this prosecution and we will continue to investigate all reports of child sexual abuse, whether the abuse took place recently or in decades gone by.”
