More than 12 fire engines attended
Fire crews have been battling a major thatched roof blaze in Whimple.
The fire started in a gas canister outside the property on Thursday 14 July, but spread to the roof of a two storey building covering three private dwellings.
Nearby Exeter Airport had to be notified because of the smoke and how close the fire was to the site.
At its peak, more than 12 fire engines attended along with other special appliances including water bowsers and welfare vehicles.
At 8pm, the operation was scaled down to six fire engines and then again at 5am where two fire engines continued to dampen down hotspots.
