Police are at the scene on a serious road accident on the A30 near Exeter.
A lorry and a JCB digger collided on the eastbound carriageway at Alphington at around 7.35am.
The lorry driver was released from his vehicle by the fire service and flown to Derriford Hospital by the air ambulance.
The eastbound carriageway of the A30 is currently closed at Cheriton Bishop and Tedburn St Mary.
Diversions are in place and motorists are being advised to avoid the area for the time being.
