Chick returned to nest
A hot Sunday in Exmouth turned to drama when the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue came to the assistance of a seagull in distress.
It's breeding season for the blighters, and across Devon's coasts the annual summer squeak of seagull chicks is in full sound.
But one chick, on the roof of a property overlooking the sea, couldn't get back to its nest.
An RSCPA officer asked the fire service to fly to the Louisa Place area of Exmouth.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue say: "Crews from Green Watch Exmouth were mobilised.
"Using a triple extension ladder, roof ladder and small tools, they were able to rescue the seagull from netting on the roof and return this back to the nest."
