Four teens arrested after woman hit by car

Police report themselves after chase

A woman is seriously injured after being hit by what's thought to be a stolen car in Exeter.

Four teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. 

Police were called at around midday on Wednesday to reports of a vehicle being driven erratically near Cranbrook in East Devon.

The car, a grey Peugeot 508 saloon, failed to stop for officers and shortly afterwards collided with a pedestrian in Lower Harrington Lane, a built-up residential part of Pinhoe.

A casualty, who is in her thirties was taken to hospital, where her injuries are described as not life threatening.

Three of the suspects being questioned are juveniles, whilst one is 18.

Devon and Cornwall Police is making a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct [IOPC] following the incident.

The force will await a decision from the IOPC regarding how it wishes to proceed with this matter.
