'Disgraceful' council could benefit Reform, he claims
Reform UK leader Nigel Farage took aim at ‘woke’ Devon County Council as he rallied his troops in Exeter on Monday.
At Sandy Park, home of the Exeter Chiefs, he told them Reform is doing well on the doorsteps, and then took aim at the policies of the current Conservative-led county council.
He went on: “In Devon you’ve got a Conservative-led council who have gone completely woke. The numbers are unbelievable.
“Half a million quid on diversity, equality and inclusion over the course of the last three years alone. Money is just disappearing on climate change and diversity, and the potholes are not being solved at all.
“It’s disgraceful, and it’s why we might do rather well.”
Reform UK is contesting every seat on the county council, and many of the candidates were there to hear from their leader and have their pictures taken with him for their election leaflets.
He told them the mission is about ‘taking control, winning the next general election and turning around the direction and the energy of the whole country’.
“There’s a lot of love out there for us,” he said. “People say we represent the last hope for having a country that is recognisable to the one we grew up in.”
Other party leaders are expected in the county in the coming weeks.
