Inquest hears that six-and-a-half tonne 'Jackal' driven by unqualified driver
An inquest in Exeter has heard how an young RAF gunner from Exmouth was killed in Afghanistan when an armoured vehicle fell on him as he checked underneath it for a fluid leak.
Senior Aircraftman Kinikki Griffiths was just days away from celebrating his 21st birthday when he died in 2010. A collegue working alongside him escaped.
The inquest has heard how the driver, who wasn't qualified to take the controls of the six-and-a-half tonne Jackal vehicle had put the handbrake on, but it didn't stop the it rolling forwards.
The inquest continues.
