Council's must meet a criteria
Devon County Council is set to receive the largest amount of government funding for road repairs next year, more than any other council in the UK.
The Department for Transport has announced the county will receive £83,640,000 if the council can prove that they are meeting certain criteria.
The money does not include Plymouth or Torbay as they are unitary councils.
Plymouth have been granted £4,527,000 and Torbay will receive £ 2,891,000 from government money If they meet incentives.
Devon’s local authorities can use the money to identify which roads are in most need of repair and deliver "immediate fixes"
In the Autumn Budget, it was announced the total local road maintenance funding in 2025/26 will be nearly £1.6bn, representing a £500m uplift compared with the previous 12 months.
This injection of cash is estimated to be enough to fix around seven million potholes around the entire country.
