Torridge and West Devon MP Geoffrey Cox has been sacked as Attorney General, as part of Boris Johnson's first major reshuffle since the General Election.
The former barrister was appointed as the government's top law officer in 2018 by Theresa May.
He had reportedly warned of a decline in the legal experience among MPs, as he pleaded to keep his job.
In a statement on Twitter, Mr Cox said: "I have been truly privileged to have served as Attorney General during the recent turbulent political times. I am now leaving the Government at the PM’s request."

Business secretary Andrea Leadsom and housing minister Esther McVey have also gone as part of the reshuffle.
There are a few jobs that will definitely need to be filled, including the new post overseeing HS2.
