The owner of a pink cottage in Kennford is to be told to repaint it in a more muted shade.
On Monday Teignbridge councillors refused a retrospective planning application for the painting of the house a few years ago, after conservation officers said the colour was too bright.
The owner of the cottage, Ann Kennedy, has insisted all along that it was the same as the original colour but simply looked brighter because it was new.
She will be given three years to redecorate the cottage which is a Grade 2 listed building dating from the 17th century.
