Exeter's Cathedral Green will be a winter wonderland this evening... as the city's first Christmas market has its official opening.
There'll be a parade of lights by local school children, Christmas carols by the cathedral's choristers, and even local pantomime actors in costume.
The market itself sees local and visiting traders selling seasonal crafts, gifts and food and drink, and will be open for the next few weeks - it also has permission to be held every Christmas for the next four years.
City centre business leaders think it'll be good for all Exeter's other shops and businesses, and that over time it will also be a winter tourism asset, attracting coach parties and people on weekend breaks.
