A new Go Ape course on Haldon Forest has been proposed.

High wire adventure course for children planned for Go Ape near Exeter

Go Ape, based at Haldon Forest Park near Exeter, have submitted plans for a new high ropes course that would be accessible to everyone, but specifically aimed at 6-12 year olds.

The application, submitted to Teignbridge District Council planners, would see the new course built next to the existing Go Ape ‘Tree Top Adventure’ high ropes course.

A statement submitted with the application says: “Go Ape is the multi-award winning provider of high ropes adventure courses with enable people of all ages to experience an adventure high up in the tree canopy. The traditional ‘Tree Top Adventure’ courses are designed for anyone over 10-year-old, but recently, Go Ape have developed a more compact course aimed primarily at children in order to open up the activity to a younger audience.

“Go Ape seek permission to establish further activities and improve some of its current infrastructure at the Forestry Commission’s Haldon Forest, which includes the installation of a ‘Tree Top Junior’ high ropes course.

“Despite the recreational facilities on offer, Go Ape has found that families with younger children are often disappointed after enquiring about the Tree Top Adventure course as a possible family activity as it is not suitable for anyone under 10-year-old. It is with this is mind that Go Ape has designed a new high wire adventure course for use by children with Haldon Forest."

The application says that the proposal has been developed in close liaison with the Forestry Commission. Teignbridge District Council planners will make a decision on the application at a later date.
