Police say protesters ignored advice
Devon and Cornwall Police say 2 people have been prosecuted after a protest on the M5 last night.
A group called Brexit Direct Action coordinated events across the country, encouraging motorists to block, or slow down major routes.
A group of campaigners met at the J30 services at the Sandygate roundabout last night, where officers say they advised them before their protest.
But Inspector Si Jenkinson tweeted to say: "M5 go slow. Our advice was the same, make your protest, don’t deliberately obstruct the carriageway. It seems two drivers ignored this advice, slowing to speeds as low as 20mph on the motorway. They’ve been stopped and prosecuted."
He says they stayed with the convoy throughout the protest.
My officers remain with the M5 convoy and will continue to conclusion. We are committed to ensuring safety on our roads and will take proportionate steps to ensure the free movement of traffic throughout our Force area.

A protester who took part told Radio Exe, they followed the Police advice, and denies that they drove at 20mph. The driver, who wanted to remain anonymous, said he took part "for democracy".
