Straws make driveways

A greener way to resurface in Devon

A Devon business is now offering driveway work that uses recycled plastic waste such as straws, plastic drink bottles and plastic food packaging.

Homeowners with, say, a standard 50 square metre drive would be parking their cars on the equivalent of 150,000 recycled plastic straws.

It certainly doesn't suck. It's a way of getting driveways, paths and patios spruced up with a nod to the environment.

The company, called Oltco, operates nationally, but now has a new Devon franchise led by sales support manager Scott Stevenson.

So far, Oltco has recycled the equivalent of over 45 million plastic straws across the UK and this number continues to grow every week. Scott is looking forward to continuing to help protect the environment with Recycle Bound installations across Exeter and the surrounding towns and villages.

Mr Stevenson says: “Oltco has provided me with the opportunity to grow a business from the ground up, with the support of Oltco’s outstanding network of franchisees. I’m looking forward to travelling around Devon and meeting new customers every day, establishing Oltco Exeter as the leading resin bound supplier in the area.”

Tom Stringer, co-director at Oltco, comments: “We have known Scott for many years and when we heard that he was looking for more career development we knew Oltco would be the place for him. He has a passion for learning and growing and his vision for Oltco Exeter is exactly what we were looking for.

“Scott’s knowledge of the products is impressive and he enjoys getting stuck in with the design process, allowing him to create the perfect outdoor spaces. His friendly and approachable nature gives customers the confidence that their property is in safe hands.”
