Judi was born in Plymouth, Devon. She trained to be an actress at the Rose Bruford College and began her broadcasting career at Westward Television in 1977 (the ITV regional station at that time) before continuing on to the What's Ahead entertainment guide. Judi host two local beauty contests Mr TSW and Miss TSW, which then lead to her nationally-networked daytime chat show Judi!
She went on to present BBC One's daily magazine programme Pebble Mill, to co-host The Alternative DJ alongside Peter Jeffrey and Oliver Senton, and to present the show Scavenger Hunt. Within radio Judi hosted a Saturday afternoon show on BBC Radio 2 between 1994 and 1998, and she went on to present the morning show on BBC Radio Devon from 2005 until 2015.
