Exeter Contemporary Open featuring artists from across the UK at Exeter Phoenix
More Information (Radio Exe is not responsible for external websites)
Exeter Contemporary Open is an annual exhibition, selected from hundreds of entries, submitted by artists from across the UK. It forms a major highlight of the South West's cultural calendar and a vital springboard for the careers of emerging contemporary artists.
This year's shortlist showcases the work of fifteen contemporary visual artists who work across painting, sculpture, photography and video. Out There Queer Fest are proud to highlight three of the artists:
SHARP - Artworks in photography, sculpture and video that stem from an archive of imagery that dates back to the 1980's, to document their life as a queer artist, activist and producer.
Jess Scott - Filmmaker and photographer presenting self-portrait images from the series 'My Father's Daughter' using their father's camera, wearing his clothes and cropping their long hair to look like him.
Ruth Calland - Paintings that explore gender and gender identity based on images produced by and about trans and non-binary people, often using Tiktok to find source material.
