Record-breaking Exeter half marathon

WATCH: More than 800 people take part in two-day running festival

CITY Community Trust, Exeter's award winning health and well being charity, staged two half marathons last weekend, receiving a record entry of more than 800 runners.

The races began at the Exeter Quay and followed a two-lap route along the River Exe and through Riverside Valley Park.

Catherine White, senior development manager at CITY Community Trust, said: "It was fantastic to welcome so many people to our events this weekend. The course is perfect for runners who are taking part in their first half marathon, and also those more seasoned runners who are looking for a fast time.

"We stage the event over two days, with those expected to achieve faster times taking part on Saturday, to ensure that runners of all abilities can take part. I’d like to say a big thank you to our sponsors and supporters, and our team of staff and volunteers for making it such a successful event."

The events provide opportunities for participants to raise funds for worthy local causes close to their hearts. Runners had been encouraged to support charity partners, Children's Hospice South West, Age UK Exeter, Julian House and Force Cancer Charity or CITY Community Trust.
